The Renfrewshire Inspirational Awards honours amazing local people, groups and charities at their annual ceremony in Paisley. We are so delighted our volunteer Jeanne was recognised - winning the 2024 Inspirational Community Volunteer award!
Jeanne Chalk has served Renfrewshire for decades. A minister’s wife, she helped many in need of shelter. Now in her eighties, Jeanne was the first volunteer to support Sewing2gther All Nations when we launched in 2018. She still volunteers two days a week, and we've lost count of the clothing donations she has sorted, processed and made sure they got to the right people. She also supports English language learners at our weekly language café. A great listener she demonstrates patience and understanding, and builds relationship and trust despite cultural and language barriers. Jeanne is dedicated, committed and a great support to many of our group members from the refugee and asylum seeker community.
