Generations Working Together Excellence Awards 2022

Sewing2gether All Nations is delighted to have been awarded Highly Commended for Tackling Climate Change in the Generations Working Together Excellence Awards 2022!

Generations Working Together is the nationally recognised centre of excellence supporting the development and integration of intergenerational work across Scotland. Their Excellence Awards provide an opportunity for individuals and groups to celebrate their learning and success in building relationships between younger and older generations.

Intergenerational relationships have an important contribution to make in the rebuilding of our communities. Although the approach is growing, it is so important for everyone to raise awareness of the impact these intergenerational relationships have on improving health, physical and mental well-being for older and younger people and on reducing ageism.

Generations Working Together recognises that we cannot fight climate change alone and that all generations must work together to make a difference. Tackling Climate Change is a new award created during COP26 in order to encourage intergenerational solidarity to tackle climate change. The award was open for projects and initiatives that connect generations through green activities such as community gardening, green initiatives in local communities and campaigning.

Sewing2gether All Nations work facilitating creative upcycling workshops with members of the refugee community was recognised; we often have three generations of a family engaging at our activities, our youngest volunteer is 18 and our oldest 81!

The announcement of the award was made at the GWT’s Intergenerational Conference on March 10th, and the award was presented by Bella Kerr, Intergenerational Development Officer at the Workshop on May 4th.
